How do science teachers teach science - and does it matter?

Teachers often use a combination of practices to achieve the desired learning outcomes. Empowered with strong classroom- management skills and professional knowledge, teachers could guide students’ learning of science with explicit instruction on basic concepts, then encourage students to participate in enquiry-based activities to consolidate their knowledge. Adapting science lessons to meet the needs of individual students can benefit those students who struggle to understand a particular concept or topic. Flexibility and responsiveness to their students are the hallmarks of effective teachers.

The Resilience of Students with an Immigrant Background

Migraron flows are profoundly changing the composition of classrooms. Results from the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) reveal that in 2015, almost one in four 15-year-old students in OECD countries reported that they were either foreign-born or had at least one foreign-born parent.

Alumnado inmigrante en Euskadi

El 66,5% de los escolares de origen extranjero en el País Vasco acuden a centros públicos

La enseñanza vasca acoge a 33.079 alumnos de origen extranjero, un 15,7% del total. La mayoría, el 66,5%, estudia en las aulas de centros públicos y el desequilibrio más grande entre ambas redes se produce en Primaria -de 6 a 12 años- y, concretamente, en el territorio alavés, con ocho de cada diez niños inmigrantes matriculados en escuelas públicas. Es la radiografía sobre la escolarizacion en Euskadi de este colectivo que hace un informe presentado esta mañana por el Departamento de Educación y que tiene como objetivo «aplicar medidas para mejorar» el reparto entre redes y colegios y la atención a estos escolares.
